Founded in 1900 by the Popple Free Evangelist Society. The land was donated by Thore Johnson. It was always intended to build a church on the NE side of the property (this was never accomplished). Members met in the Thore Johnson, John Thorstad, and John Wick homes. In the 1940's the membership for the most part joined St Petri Lutheran Church in Columbia Township Polk County, and that is how the cemetery came under the care of that congregation. The cemetery is maintained by the St Peter Lutheran Assn. Contact Tim Johnson at 'tjohnson at gvtel.com' with any questions.
